What you'll do:
- Respond to requests from tenants for in unit repairs in a timely manner.
- Assess the reported issue and determine the type of repair and supplies required.
- Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, heating, and other miscellaneous repairs.
- Respond to emergency building issues such as flooding and heat issues.
- Perform basic maintenance repairs to common areas including changing lightbulbs, unclogging toilets and minor drywall repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance and testing as outlined in Regina Housing preventative maintenance plan.
- Determine facility and equipment needs or problems and coordinate solutions with the appropriate members of the Maintenance team.
- Snow removal for all properties as necessary.
- Interact with tenants, contractors, and other staff members in a positive, professional, and sensitive manner.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE and report all unsafe conditions to assigned supervisor.
- Complete all required reporting and documentation.
- Adhere to Regina Housing policies and standards and communicate these standards to others as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with Regina Housing stakeholders and develop positive and productive working relationships.
- Maintain the privacy of tenants and uphold RHA confidentiality standards.
- Promote a positive, professional image of the organization.
- Support Regina Housing and the Maintenance Department by performing other duties as assigned.
What you'll need:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance and repair, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in English, with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Comfortable using technology and able to learn mobile applications and various digital tools related to daily job duties.
- Extensive knowledge of general facility repairs including plumbing and carpentry.
- Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools and related safety protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to assess a wide variety of maintenance issues and solve the problem in a cost-effective manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work effectively in a team setting.
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work efficiently under tight timelines.
- Understanding of, and commitment to practicing universal safety precautions. Effective time management and organizational skills.
- A class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search.
- Steel-toed footwear.
