Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Foster Home Support Workers to provide essential assistance and care within a foster home in Woodstock Ontario. As a member of a support team, Child & Youth Support (1-1) Workers in our Foster Homes will work in conjunction with a Multi-Disciplinary team to ensure a welcoming, safe and healthy living environment for Children with challenging behaviours. You will be required to support Children in the completion of their Daily home routines and activities, Community Recreational Programming, direct supervision and care within the Foster Home, and Behaviour Interventions.
In this role, you will support foster family and children, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that promotes growth and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with children and a strong commitment to fostering positive development. Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Social Services (DSW, CYW, ECE). Related experience is preferred. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience. University Student will be considered.
Knowledge and experience in supporting individuals with Emotional disorders, Dual Diagnosis, Autism, and Challenging / Aggressive Behaviours will be considered an asset.
Experience and flexibility in providing support to individuals with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties; ability to perform all techniques taught in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
Responsibilities
- Assist foster family with daily routines, including meal preparation, hygiene support, homework help, and recreational activities
- Provide emotional support and mentorship to children in foster care
- Support the implementation of individualized care plans
- Monitor and report on the well-being of children, noting any concerns or changes in behavior. Applicant must be proficient use of Microsoft Office programs and computers / laptop to complete documentation.
- Collaborate with caseworkers, foster care family, therapists, and other professionals to ensure consistent care delivery
- Help foster children develop life skills and promote positive social interactions. Must be comfortable supporting individuals at indoor/outdoor community events.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment within the foster home setting
Experience
- Prior experience working with children is highly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children and families
- Current certification in Standard First Aid/CPR.
- Preference given to individuals who possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and willingness to drive personal vehicle (including highway driving/driving out of town). If using personal vehicle, must have vehicle insurance minimum coverage of $2M for transporting Children in Care. Mileage reimbursement provided.
- Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check and/or a Broad Sector Police Check.

- Able to commit to working up to three shifts during the week/up to 24 hours/week and every other weekend up to 32 hours per month; must be available for a variety of shifts: during the day, afternoons, and evenings).
What We Offer
Renumeration: $25/hour.
