Essential Job Duties:
To operate and monitor all utility equipment located outside the boiler house and perform all operating duties as it relates to TSSA which includes: cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, steam condensate collection systems, waste water and process water plants and tests emergency diesel generators in the two resin manufacturing areas.
Supplies production with all utilities (dry air, water treatment including demineralizer and RO, wastewater treatment, fire water, chilled water, cooling towers).
Responsible for the start-up and shutdown of various equipment including air compressors, chillers, rotary drum filter and fire pump engines.
Completes water tests, sludge tests, and wastewater tests, perform chemical drawdowns, and adjust chemical feed as necessary.
Monitors Delta V DCS control system and make adjustments as necessary.
Relieves Operating Engineers Third Class as needed for vacation and illness.
Conduct daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies. Use personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities, and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices, and procedures.
Understand HSE policies and programs. Work safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements.
Follows the procedures for the ISO 9001 Program to meet OCC’s quality policies of conducting business that exceed the expectations and needs of our customers in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of a 3rd Class Operating Engineer TSSA Certificate. This TSSA certificate requires the successful completion of TSSA exams.
Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, TSSA and related regulations.
Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications including outlook, word and excel.
Must have working knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of mechanical equipment. Diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to technical issues.
Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.
Valid driver’s license required.
Required to work overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, stooping etc.
Must have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. Must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights and work from platforms.
