Salary:
$50.07 - $56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications in accordance with the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation, and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Temporary faculty have the option to enroll in the College Pension Plan, with employer-matched contributions. The Christmas closure period is unpaid time off for temporary employees.
Description:
The Steamfitter/Pipefitter Instructor position supports the instruction of the SkilledTrades BC program outline including all levels; foundation through apprenticeship, of the Steamfitter/Pipefitter Trade. The Pipe Trades Foundation program encompasses the learning outcomes for level 1 training in Plumber, Steamfitter/Pipefitter and Sprinklerfitter. Upon successful completion of the foundation program, students will have met the SkilledTrades BC requirements for Level 1 training in each of those trades.
Qualifications:
Required:

SkilledTrades BC Steamfitter/Pipefitter Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal Endorsement with minimum 5 years of experience working in the industry as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter Journeyperson after Red Seal Certification; and

SkilledTrades BC Gasfitter – Class B Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal Endorsement or equivalent with minimum 5 years of experience working in the industry as a Gasfitter Class B Journeyperson after Red Seal Certification

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

A supportive, student-centred approach with a strong commitment to student success

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and contribute positively within a team environment
Preferred:

Completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP), an equivalent adult education credential, or a demonstrated willingness to obtain one

Two years of supervisory or administrative experience

Demonstrable success in teaching at the post-secondary level

Experience teaching the SkilledTrades BC curriculum for this trade
