Days Inn by Wyndham Airdrie is seeking a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a wide-ranging, jack-of-all-trades role — you'll be the go-to person for ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of our hotel facilities.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our property by performing a wide range of maintenance tasks. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, and facilities maintenance skills in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform guest room maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, furniture repairs, paint touch-ups, grout and sealant replacement, drywall repairs and wall painting, clear drains, tighten loose fixtures or appliances, and ensure rooms exceed Days Inn quality standards.
- Perform plumbing repairs on fixtures, drains, toilets, and water heaters.
- Perform basic electrical work (lighting, outlets, switches).
- Perform HVAC filter changes, basic upkeep and troubleshooting
- Perform basic carpentry tasks — doors, windows, trim, frames, and hardware
- Perform grounds maintenance: snow removal using shovels, snow blower, and backpack blower. Use a lawnmower, string trimmer and perform grass cutting, weed removal, planting, watering, and trimming. Hang and maintain plants and floral displays.
- Maintain the hot tub, including daily testing and chemical balancing. Clean and maintain the hot tub area.
- Conduct routine inspections of hotel systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment, to identify issues early and prevent disruptions.
- Conduct regular checks of public areas, including hallways, lobby, restaurants, and washrooms.
- Inspect and maintain lighting, exit signage, doors, walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Interact professionally and courteously with guests while working in public and guest-facing areas.
- Safely operate and maintain power tools (drills, saws, grinders, etc.), and grounds equipment.

- Follow all health, safety, and PPE requirements
- Work within established procedures, standards, and regulations
- Handle chemicals and controlled substances safely and responsibly
- Support a safety-first culture through attention to detail and adherence to protocols
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of hands-on maintenance or trades experience
- Comfortable working in an older building with aging systems
- Solid troubleshooting skills across multiple trades
- Confident with power tools and grounds equipment
- Basic carpentry skills — doors, windows, trim, hardware
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Good communication with the front desk, housekeepers, and management
- Valid driver's licence with a clean abstract
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
