Job Description:
Alpha College is seeking an instructor for our Personal Support Worker program. The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience in nursing and/or personal support work in a Canadian clinical setting. Teaching experience is an asset, especially previously delivering the NACC program. Summary of responsibilities includes:
● Deliver the course based on the lesson plans, course outlines and assessments provided;
● Maintain course page on college LMS in compliance with college policies;
● Support student learning, update them on their progress and provide constructive feedback;
● Promote a respectful learning environment for all students; address any classroom management issues in a proactive and timely manner;
● Ensure academic integrity in compliance with college policies;
● Help students secure placements (a requirement for graduation) and provide ongoing support.
Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration and no practice restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
2. Minimum of two (2) years current, relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment preferably in a long-term care/community/chronic care setting.
3. Meet instructor standards as outlined in the Regulations to the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
4. Hold Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) Certified Coach Designation.
Delivery Method: Hybrid
Schedule: 5:00 pm to 10:00pm Monday to Friday, Saturday 9:00am to 2:00pm.
Hourly Rate: $25 - $30/hr commensurate with education and experience
