THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is a strong opportunity for either an experienced HVAC Service Manager or a high-potential senior technician or supervisor who is ready to move into management.
The role sits at the centre of service performance. You will influence technician productivity, dispatch effectiveness, client satisfaction, preventative maintenance growth, job costing, quoting, safety, and day-to-day field execution. For a proven Service Manager, this is a chance to take ownership of a service division with room to grow. For a senior technician or supervisor stepping up, the company is prepared to support a structured transition into full service management over approximately 6 to 12 months.
The right person will bring more than technical HVAC knowledge. They will bring judgment, follow-through, leadership presence, customer awareness, and a practical understanding of how profitable service work gets planned, scheduled, delivered, documented, and improved.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Service Manager will oversee daily service operations for a commercial and industrial HVAC/R team, ensuring technicians are scheduled effectively, jobs are completed safely, and clients receive dependable service.
This person will guide and support field technicians and dispatch, monitor productivity and billable efficiency, review service reports, support quoting and job costing, and help ensure work is completed in line with safety and regulatory expectations. A key part of the role will be growing the preventative maintenance contract base while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and supporting repeat business.
The position requires someone who can move comfortably between the office, the field, the customer conversation, and the numbers behind the work. You will need to understand what is happening technically, operationally, and commercially, then help the team make better decisions day to day.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC service experience
- Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating technicians
- A practical understanding of service operations, dispatching, scheduling, field productivity, and billable efficiency
- Exposure to preventative maintenance programs, service contracts, repeat business, or client retention
- Experience reviewing service reports, supporting quotes, assessing job costs, or helping ensure work is completed profitably
- Background in commercial, construction, industrial, mechanical, or facilities-related service environments
- Experience with service management software would be considered an asset
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC/R service work
- Ability to lead technicians, set expectations, follow up, and drive performance
- Strong communication skills with technicians, dispatch, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Customer service mindset with the ability to build trust and support long-term relationships
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, boilers, plumbing, welding, or related equipment would be valuable
- Ability to read technical schematics, drawings, or blueprints
- Safety-focused approach to service work, field execution, and compliance
- Practical problem-solving skills, especially when priorities shift or field issues arise
- Relevant HVAC or mechanical certifications or licences would be preferred
