Role Overview
As we expand our operations, we are seeking two experienced nurses - Licensed Practical Nurse (“LPN”) or Registered Nurse (“RN”) - to join Windflower Vein & Vascular! The Nurse plays an important role in providing planned, patient oriented, directed nursing care and ensuring a seamless and professional patient experience every step of the way.
Work location: Southcentre (11012 Macleod Trail SE) or University District (3917 University Ave NW), with possibility of assignment at other Windflower locations within Calgary as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Collaboration and Patient Care
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and surgeons in the assessment, care, and treatment of venous insufficiency and other vascular or surgical diseases.
- Assist in diagnosing and treating patients with vascular conditions affecting blood vessels.
- Monitor and manage pre‑ and post‑treatment care for vascular procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, perform wound care, and monitor vital signs specific to vascular health.
- Conduct thorough assessments and perform minor procedures when required.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, post‑procedure care, and lifestyle modifications to support ongoing vein health management.
- Procedural and Surgical Support
- Deliver nursing care in both clinic and operating room environments, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
- Assist with sterile procedures, maintaining safe and efficient workflows.
- Maintain strict sterile technique while assisting with procedures.
- Participate in the development and improvement of vein and vascular care practices, clinical procedures, and operational protocols.
- Operational and Administrative Support
- Manage inventory by monitoring supplies and coordinating ordering with the administrative team to support clinical operations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document care plans and progress.
- Support clinical operations by coordinating with administrative and medical teams to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient scheduling.
- Perform additional clinical or administrative duties as assigned to support overall clinic function.
- Teamwork and Professional Standards
- Contribute to team meetings, case reviews, and training initiatives to enhance clinical quality and patient outcomes.
- Uphold professional standards of care, confidentiality, and patient‑centred service in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education & Certifications:
For LPNs:
- Completion of an accredited post-secondary nursing education program
- Active registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA)
For RNs:
- Completion of an accredited post-secondary nursing education program
- Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Professional Experience & Other Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working in a medical or clinical setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Health Information Act, patient privacy standards, and FOIP regulations
- Experience working with an integrated ambulatory Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system an asset
- Operating room or procedural clinic experience (scrub & circulating) would be considered an asset
- Passionate about quality and creating an exceptional patient experience
- Ability to work independently while also thrive as part of a cohesive team with a focus on providing high-quality patient care
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to remain calm and empathetic in a medical setting
- Current Basic Life Support Certification including AED
