With offices in Stoney Creek, Boisbriand, Jonquière, Sept-Îles, we are currently looking for a Director of Engineering and Projects, attached to our Stoney Creek team serving a varied clientele throughout Ontario.
The Manager of Engineering and Projects reports to Ontario’s General Manager and manages all activities related to the Engineering & Projects team. He also plays a key role in collaborating with other design groups located in Boisbriand and Jonquiere in Quebec.
What you’ll do:
Lead project execution from the design phase through installation for major energy producers in Canada.- Plan, organize, structure and evaluate the activities of the Mechanical Engineering team (8 team members).
- Monitor the progress of ongoing projects and ensure compliance with the standards and regulations.
- Oversee project financial performance by conducting monthly reviews of the orders book, budget indicators, margins and operating costs, while ensuring projects are delivered within allocated budgets.
- Coach, evaluate, supervise and coordinate the team.
- Act as a key technical resource for clients and employees.
- Facilitate or participate in project kick-off meetings and design reviews.
- Oversee the resolution of technical issues.
- Act as the liaison between Québec and Ontario teams and maintain relationships between both groups.
- Ensure that mechanical engineering deliverables and project time budgets are met.
- Anticipate potential problems, assess, risks, and implement mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure the availability of technical resources.
- Collaborate closely and positively with clients on contract amendments and negotiations, as needed, to ensure profitable project management.
- Mentor and develop team members.
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering- Licensed member of a provincial engineering association
- 5-8 years of experience in team and project management
- 5-8 years of experience in mechanical or mechatronic engineering
- Basic knowledge of French (an asset)
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, an asset (ie, VFD motor control & PLC)
- Experienced in project estimation and budget management
- Natural leadership skills and the ability to mobilize team
