Position Summary
The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company equipment across all divisions. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, inspections, inventory control, emergency response, and coordination with external service providers. Duties will be evaluated over the first several months, and responsibilities may be adjusted based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
The Fleet Mechanic’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and urgent repair calls as required
- Perform daily maintenance and routine servicing on company units and equipment
- Conduct spot checks and inspections on all units across each division
- Track kilometers and usage on all company units
- Track when CVIs are due and ensure inspections are completed on schedule
- Review vehicle inspection (VI) forms for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Maintain accurate inventory tracking, restocking supplies, and replacing parts as needed
- Manage and coordinate work orders and service calls with external vendors (e.g., Plett,
MP Tires)
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and readiness of the maintenance shed and service
truck
- Ensure tools, parts, and equipment in the shed and service truck are properly stored and
maintained
- Participate in the JHAS committee as an employee representative, contributing to
workplace safety initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
- Mechanical knowledge and experience working with fleet vehicles and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and familiarity with inspection and compliance requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot and respond effectively under time-sensitive conditions
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with vendors and team
members
- Commitment to safety and compliance standards
Additional Information
This position will be reviewed during the initial months of employment to ensure responsibilities align with operational requirements. Adjustments to duties may be made as needed.
Pay: $85,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
