Summary of Position
We are seeking a skilled Installation and Service Technician with expertise in electronic security systems. This role requires hands-on experience with Access Control, IP CCTV, Intrusion Alarm Systems, electrified hardware, and related technologies. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality installations, service, and maintenance while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation & Service
- Install, service, and maintain electronic security systems including Access Control, IP CCTV, Intrusion Alarm Systems, Intercoms, Electrified Hardware, Automatic Door Operators (ADOs), and Parking Control/Turnstiles
- Run and terminate cables; program and calibrate equipment according to specifications
- Commission systems by testing equipment, connections, and signals; troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Install, service, and repair door hardware and associated products
- Ensure all work meets industry codes, regulations, and standards
Documentation & Communication
- Review and execute work orders, maintaining accurate records of all installations, service calls, and maintenance activities
- Read and interpret building plans, system drawings, and technical documentation
- Complete required paperwork including work orders, DHA forms, truck inspection sheets, and expense reports in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and service providers
- Provide feedback to management on field trends, potential issues, and improvement opportunities
Customer Service & Training
- Deliver professional on-site service at customer facilities
- Collaborate with the Sales Department to identify and recommend hardware solutions
- Provide technician and customer training as needed
Safety & Professional Development
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with the employer's and customer's Health and Safety Programs, Ontario Health and Safety Act, and all applicable regulations
- Stay current with industry developments through continuing education, technical publications, and training opportunities
- Maintain a valid Ontario driver's license with a clean driving record
Note: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as mutually agreed upon between the employee and the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma (post-secondary education preferred)
- While prior experience is welcomed, we prioritize technical problem-solving abilities, a “learn-it-all” mindset, and genuine curiosity about Security Systems.
- Valid Ontario driver's license with a good driving record
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask, adapt quickly, and work independently
- Understanding of door hardware and automatic door operators
Preferred (Assets):
- Technical expertise with systems including: Kantech, Avigilon, S2, Exacq, Honeywell, Lenel, Axis, Genetec, DSC, Bosch, and Aiphone
- Manufacturer certifications in the above systems
- Experience with network configurations and IP-based systems
