Position Summary
As a Direct Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting youth in a residential setting. You will help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment while encouraging independence, promoting positive life skills, and responding to each youth's individual needs with professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to youth in a residential setting.
- Build positive, respectful, and professional relationships with youth.
- Assist with daily routines, meal preparation, housekeeping, and life skills development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
- Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support and implement individualized care plans.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and organizational procedures.
- Administer medication in accordance with organizational policies and training (where applicable).
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, and external service providers.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Valid Class 5F Driver's License.
Assets
- Experience working with youth or vulnerable populations.
- Education in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
