The People Group has partnered with our friends at HostGenius to find their next Business Development Representative. HostGenius is a full-service short-term rental management company operating across Canada. We list and manage properties across 20+ platforms including Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, Expedia, and Homes & Villas by Marriott — handling everything from guest communications and dynamic pricing to cleaning, maintenance, and owner reporting. Our mission is to maximize rental income for property owners while delivering a five-star guest experience.
HostGenius operates across North America and are expanding into new markets. They are looking for a BDR who can help us grow our portfolio of managed properties by connecting with property owners who want professional, hands-off management of their short-term rental investments.
The Role
As our BDR, you are the first point of contact for prospective property owners. Your job is to identify owners who have, or are considering, short-term rental properties, introduce them to the HostGenius platform, and book qualified meetings for the sales team to close.
This is not a traditional SaaS BDR role. You are talking to real estate investors, homeowners with vacation properties, and landlords exploring short-term rental income. The conversations are personal, the objections are real, and the wins are tangible, every property you bring in generates recurring revenue for the company.
HostGenius property owners earn up to 30% more compared to self-management — that's the pitch, and the numbers back it up.
What You Will Do
Outbound Prospecting
- Research and identify property owners in target markets across Canada who are candidates for short-term rental management
- Execute multi-channel outreach campaigns (phone, email, LinkedIn, social media) to connect with prospective property owners
- Engage with inbound leads from the HostGenius website, social media, and referral channels
- Qualification & Pipeline Building
- Qualify property owner leads based on property type, location, revenue potential, and management readiness
- Understand and articulate HostGenius's two service models — Hyper Local (dedicated local partner) and Remote Hosting (online-based support) — to match the right solution to each property owner's needs
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline in the CRM — clean data, accurate notes, timely follow-ups
- Book qualified meetings for the sales team / founder with property owners ready to discuss management agreements
Market Intelligence
- Stay current on short-term rental regulations, market trends, and competitor activity in target cities
- Provide feedback to the team on common objections, owner concerns, and market conditions that affect conversion
Collaboration
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure smooth handoffs and meeting preparation
- Collaborate with marketing on content and campaigns that resonate with property owner audiences
- Contribute to playbook development — what messaging works, what channels convert, what owner profiles close fastest
What You Bring
Required
- 1-2 years of experience in a BDR, SDR, or outbound sales role (or equivalent hustle - real estate, hospitality, or entrepreneurial experience counts)
- Strong written and verbal communication, you can write a cold email that gets opened and have a phone conversation that doesn't feel scripted
- Comfort with cold outreach, phone, email, LinkedIn, DMs. You don't wait for leads to come to you.
- Experience with a CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, or similar)
- Self-motivated and organized, this is a remote role. Nobody is watching your screen. You manage your own day
- Located in Greater Vancouver Regional District and ability to travel to our office for training and as needed
Nice To Have
- Experience in property management, real estate, hospitality, or PropTech
- Familiarity with short-term rental platforms (Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com)
- Understanding of real estate investment fundamentals (rental yield, cap rates, property management fees)
- Bilingual (English/French) for Quebec market expansion
- Experience selling to individual property owners / investors (not just B2B enterprise)

- Base Salary Rage from $42,000 to $55,000 plus uncapped commissions for meetings booked and deals closed
