MJL Contracting is a locally owned Civil General Contracting business located in and working in the mid island area. We are currently looking to hire general laborers to join our team for various projects. Individuals must have excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, be physically fit and willing to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Job description
The successful candidates will be responsible general labor, working with and around heavy equipment. Required to use a variety of tools and equipment onsite, including but not limited to: laser set up/grading/use of saws and other hand tools, as well as the operation of packers, rollers and training on heavy equipment such as rock trucks and excavators.
Assets
Preference for individuals with:
-Previous civil construction experience.
-Pipe-laying and site prep experience.
-Experience with water, sewer, storm prep/installs, BC Hydro/Telus/Gas utility locates and working around existing utilities.
-Experience with safe operation of heavy equipment.
-Safety focused and follow all safety guidelines.
-General care and maintenance of all site equipment.
High level of personal integrity, strong work ethic, confidence, professionalism.
Must be able to work respectively with team members and independently with minimal supervision.
Self-directed and motivated while paying strong attention to detail, able to deal with people respectfully and professionally at all times.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and under challenging situations.
