About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance and Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the accounting function and manage a team that includes Accounts Payable, Intermediate Accountant, and Senior Accountant professionals.
Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
The successful candidate is highly organized, methodical, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage and develop a team while partnering with senior leadership on
financial planning, reporting, cash management, and process improvement initiatives.
You will be working full-time in office in Downtown Toronto, off King and Union station.
CPA designation required.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and support the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Intermediate Accountant, and Senior Accountant functions.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring financial transactions and reporting are completed accurately and on time.

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

Manage and ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing processes.

Maintain, strengthen, and continuously improve internal accounting controls, policies, and financial procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies, including IFRS and ASPE.

Review balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid expenses, and monthly accruals, while investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Prepare and file monthly HST remittances.

Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.

Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analysis.

Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to senior management to support business decisions.

Support cash flow management, financial planning, and overall cash management objectives.

Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to align month-end close activities, cash requirements, and client account reconciliations.

Ensure the company's cash management objectives are effectively monitored and achieved.

Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and automation opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.

Work with key financial and business systems, including Unity billing platform, Salesforce, and Dimensions general ledger.

Coach, mentor, and develop accounting team members through ongoing guidance, performance management, and professional development.

Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the accounting function.

Participate in ad hoc financial, accounting, and operational projects as required.
Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of progressive accounting experience.

CPA designation required.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, including IFRS and ASPE.

Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or managing accounting professionals.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
