Mould Machine Setup Operator ~ (Afternoon Shift)
What does a Mould Machine Setup Operator do?
- Set up and operation of various injection moulding machines
- Work with thermoplastics, thermosets, and various types of rubber
- Ability to read blueprints and use basic measuring instruments
- Ensure that all documentation requirements are met, i.e. S.P.C, Precision records
- Monitors deadlines according to the production schedule. Sets up and operates machine(s), focusing on quality while maximizing efficiency
- Take ownership of jobs from start to finish
- Read and work from complex engineering drawings
- Carry out minor cleaning, core pin changes, and repairs of molds
- Inspects the first run piece and spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications
- Complete all moulding tasks in line with specified run times
- Set up and operate another machine tool during controlled machining cycles
- Ensures accuracy of parts before leaving the workstation
- Deburr or degate parts as necessary
- Make recommendations for productivity improvements and method enhancements
- Notifies the supervisor of discrepancies
- Collaborate with the molding supervisor, tool room, and inspection teams
- Train and monitor operators effectively
- Maintains superior housekeeping of the machine, work area and plant facilities
- Be prepared to work on a continental shift (day/night)
What you bring to the table
Must have:
- 5 years’ moulding and set-up experience
- Strong mathematical background
- Strong knowledge of inspection equipment
- Knowledge of basic measuring instruments
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Self-motivation
- High School diploma
- Blueprint reading
Desired:
- Knowledge of thermoset moulding is an asset
