The Opportunity
We are looking for a Heavy Truck Claims Adjuster to join our team!
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with hands-on heavy truck mechanic experience, diesel technician experience, or strong technical knowledge of commercial vehicles who is looking to transition into an office-based role within the automotive warranty industry.
The successful candidate will use their mechanical knowledge to review and assess warranty claims, determine whether repairs are eligible for coverage, communicate with repair facilities and dealerships, and help ensure claims are processed accurately and efficiently.
You do not necessarily need previous claims-adjusting experience. Strong heavy truck mechanical knowledge and the ability to understand repair diagnoses, parts, labour, and vehicle systems are highly valued for this position.
Job Summary
The Heavy Truck Claims Adjuster is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and processing heavy truck warranty claims while applying technical knowledge to determine the validity and eligibility of repairs.
The role involves working closely with dealerships, repair facilities, technicians, customers, and internal teams to review diagnoses, understand recommended repairs, assess coverage, and resolve claims in a timely and professional manner.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engines, heavy-duty truck systems, diagnostics, repairs, parts, and labour, along with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Review and assess heavy truck warranty claims for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility in accordance with company policies and coverage guidelines
- Use heavy truck mechanical knowledge to evaluate repair diagnoses, recommended repairs, parts, and labour
- Review technician and repair facility recommendations and determine whether proposed repairs are reasonable and related to the reported failure
- Analyze mechanical issues and determine the appropriate course of action for warranty claims
- Communicate with dealerships, repair facilities, technicians, customers, and vendors regarding claim details, required documentation, repair recommendations, and claim resolutions
- Request and review diagnostic information, inspection reports, photographs, repair orders, and other supporting documentation as required
- Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in repair diagnoses, estimates, parts, labour, and claim submissions
- Process approved claims and ensure accurate and timely documentation and payments
- Maintain accurate and organized claim records within the claims management system
- Investigate complex or disputed claims and escalate issues when required
- Monitor claims inboxes and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Work closely with internal departments to support efficient claims processing and customer service
- Maintain a strong understanding of heavy-duty vehicle systems, common failures, repair procedures, parts, and labour requirements
- Stay up to date on heavy truck technology, repair practices, and industry terminology
- Assist in identifying trends, recurring mechanical issues, and opportunities to improve claims processes
- Prepare reports and summaries related to claims activity and outstanding items
- Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and service standards
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure the proper handling of customer and company information
- Support other administrative functions related to claims processing and departmental operations
- Carry out other duties reasonably related to the role, as assigned by management
Qualifications
Required / Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a Heavy Truck Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Truck & Coach Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, or similar role is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicle systems
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle components
- Ability to understand repair orders, technician notes, diagnostic findings, parts requirements, and labour estimates
- Strong understanding of common heavy truck mechanical and electrical systems
- Previous experience with warranty claims, service departments, dealerships, fleet maintenance, or claims adjudication is considered an asset
- Previous claims-processing experience is not required if the candidate has strong heavy truck mechanical knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to assess technical information accurately
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with technicians, dealerships, customers, and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple claims and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Experience using service, repair, warranty, or claims management software is an asset
- Bilingual communication skills are considered an asset

- This position is performed in a hybrid and/or remote work environment, in accordance with Company operational requirements and policies
