Job Summary
We are seeking motivated Chef Students enrolled in a post-secondary culinary program to join our dynamic culinary team. This paid position offers hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment, allowing students to apply their academic knowledge while developing essential skills in food preparation, cooking, and food service. Ideal candidates are passionate about the food industry, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced hospitality setting.
Duties
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of experienced chefs
- Support food handling and safety procedures to ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Participate in food plating and presentation to meet restaurant standards
- Help with kitchen organization, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness of workstations
- Serve dishes to guests efficiently and courteously, ensuring excellent customer service
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service
- Observe and learn restaurant management practices, including supervising junior staff when appropriate
- Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation protocols diligently
Experience
- Enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary culinary arts program or equivalent training
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
- Familiarity with restaurant or kitchen environments through internships or part-time roles is advantageous
- Demonstrated leadership abilities or supervising experience are considered valuable assets
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling techniques within the food industry
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to manage responsibilities effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Passion for hospitality, restaurant management, and serving guests with professionalism
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
