Job Summary
The Operator Setup Person is responsible for preparing and setting up machines, equipment, and workstations to ensure smooth and efficient production operations. This role involves configuring machinery, ensuring proper tool installation, and conducting initial tests to ensure operations meet quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Setup and run calibrate machines, equipment, and tools according to production specifications and drawings.
- Perform tool changes, adjustments, and alignments on machines to ensure optimal functionality and precision.
- Verify and inspect machinery for functionality and accuracy before production begins, ensuring that all equipment is operating within acceptable parameters.
- Ensure all materials, tools, and components are available and prepared before production runs.
- Identify and address any technical issues or malfunctions in the setup process, making adjustments as needed to ensure seamless production.
- Work closely with machine operators, engineers, and production supervisors to ensure production timelines and quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production logs, tool usage, and any maintenance or adjustments performed during the setup process.
- Ensure that all setups are completed in accordance with safety standards and procedures. Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent workplace accidents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by recommending and implementing enhancements to set up procedures, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency.
- Provide guidance and training to other team members as needed, ensuring proper setup procedures are followed and shared with the team.

Qualifications
- *Plastic Extrusion Experience Necessary*
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in machine operation, maintenance, or setup is preferred.
- Knowledge of operating machinery, equipment, and tools (depending on the industry, such as CNC machines, injection molding machines, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, and production schedules. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to lift and move heavy tools and materials (may vary by job).
- Standing, bending, and operating machinery for long periods of time.
