Job Summary
Applicant MUST be a Certified Falling Supervisor (CFS).
This position is for supervising any falling occurring on a manual herbaceous brushing contract in the Kamloops area, as and when needed.
The Certified Falling Supervisor (CFS) is a specialized role responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of tree felling and related operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of fall techniques, safety protocols, and equipment management. The CFS plays a critical role in coordinating teams, managing risk, and maintaining compliance with industry standards to promote a safe working environment on construction, landscaping, or forestry sites.
Duties
- Supervise and direct tree felling operations, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and project specifications.
- Assess site conditions using GIS and other mapping tools to plan safe fall zones and operational strategies.
- Operate or oversee the operation of heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, and other machinery required for cutting, trimming, and clearing.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment such as chainsaws, cranes, or other machinery to ensure proper functioning.
- Coordinate with ground crews and other team members to execute tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Monitor environmental conditions and landscape features to prevent hazards during operations.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, safety checks, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Provide training or guidance on the proper use of tools and safety practices to team members.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly.
- Experience in construction, landscape maintenance, or forestry operations.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, and commercial driving vehicles.
- Knowledge of GIS for site assessment and planning purposes.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to tree felling and equipment operation.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics related to machinery maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating team efforts effectively.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks in outdoor environments under various weather conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety standards essential for the role of Certified Falling Supervisor (CFS).
Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
