Communications & Outreach Officer

About AceConnex
AceConnex Inc. is a workforce development organization serving Ontario's advanced manufacturing sector. We connect jobseekers, including newcomers and people from underrepresented groups, with employers and post-secondary partners through a series of hiring and skills events.
Reaching the right people is central to everything we do. This role is how we find them, bring them in, and keep our partners and community engaged.
About the Role
The Communications & Outreach Officer is the project's voice and its connection to the community. You'll drive the recruitment of participants and help bring employer partners to the table. You'll plan and run the communications behind our events, build relationships with community and partner organizations, and make sure the right audiences know about what we offer.
This is a relationship-driven, creative role with real targets attached. Our success is measured partly in numbers by participants and employer partners engaged, and outreach is how we hit them. You'll work closely with the Project Director and the rest of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an outreach strategy to recruit participants, with a deliberate focus on reaching newcomers and underrepresented groups
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, newcomer-serving agencies, colleges, and other referral partners to drive participant recruitment
- Support the recruitment and engagement of employer partners
- Plan and execute communications and promotion for the project's signature events
- Create communications materials — social media content, flyers, newsletters, web content, and event promotion
- Manage external creative providers — including the project's freelance designer and videographer — overseeing the production of graphics, video, and promotional and participant-facing materials, and ensuring work is delivered on time and on budget
- Manage the project's communications channels and keep messaging and branding consistent
- Coordinate with the platform and registration process to convert outreach into sign-ups
- Track and report on outreach and engagement activity to support funder reporting
- Represent AceConnex at community and partner events as needed
