Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Dispensing Optician to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will assist patients in selecting eyewear, accurately dispense prescriptions, and provide exceptional service to ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong understanding of optical products and excellent communication skills to guide patients through their eyewear choices and ensure proper fitting and adjustments.
Duties
- Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their prescription needs and personal preferences
- Measure and verify eyewear prescriptions for accuracy and proper fit
- Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and optical care
- Adjust, repair, and fit eyewear to ensure comfort and proper alignment
- Process orders using optical software systems, ideally Optosys
- Maintain knowledge of current optical products, trends, and technological advancements
- Manage retail sales transactions, including processing payments and insurance claims
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, concerns, and providing professional guidance
- Keep the optical area organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies
Requirements
- Prior experience in optical dispensing or laboratory work is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to vision care is advantageous
- Experience with retail sales, especially in a healthcare or optical setting, is a plus
- Familiarity with optical software systems such as Optosys is desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and assist diverse customers
- Ability to work accurately with prescriptions and technical specifications
- Retail management experience is a bonus but not required
- Previous laboratory experience related to lens fabrication or fitting is beneficial
- A professional attitude with excellent customer service skills
