Job Description
As a Senior Technical Designer at Doka Canada, you will be responsible for the technical planning, execution, and management of individual projects, ensuring optimal use of Doka formwork systems. This role involves providing technical direction and offering support to the sales department from project design through to completion and may also include leading small engineering teams.
Responsibilities:

Technical Solutions Planning: Determine and plan technical solutions for projects utilizing Doka formwork systems.

Project Management: Partner with customers, contractors, sales, and operations departments, managing projects from preliminary planning stages to completion.

Customer Support: Provide guidance to customers regarding forming solutions, service job sites, and respond to questions concerning equipment usage.

Sales Support: Support Sales Manager by determining appropriate formwork solutions that meet customer needs economically and in compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.

Drawing Production: Produce AutoCAD / Revit drawings during the proposal stage and finalize working drawings for Doka forming systems. Provide material lists for quotations and shipments to the site.

Team Management: Motivate the team and effectively delegate work to meet team and company objectives.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure that drawings indicate the proper use of Doka forming equipment and represent safe, economical, and efficient designs. Adhere to policies, procedures, programs, standards of performance, and compliance.
Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions:

Job Site Visits: Visit job sites as required, identify any improper implementations, and take action to ensure technical solutions are immediately applied.

Service Advisor Substitute: Service the job site for the correct use of formwork systems in the absence of a service advisor.

Safety Practices: Ensure safe working practices and a safe working environment.

Additional Duties: Participate in company committees/teams and other assigned projects.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
-
Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (civil, construction, or structural)

5-7 years of related experience in concrete forming and design. Experience with Doka’s proprietary formwork system preferred;

Experience with static calculations for slab shoring systems and special formwork applications.

Extensive technical knowledge with experience in project management.

Experienced in AutoCAD and Revit, project management software and computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook.

Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing);

Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills;

General understanding of Canadian regulations, local and national codes, legislation and trends impacting the formwork industry a plus;

This posting is for an existing vacancy. The expected salary range for this position is $80,000–$100,000 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
