COOVA HEALTH
Human Care, Thoroughly Coordinated
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP)
Independent Contractor (Revenue-Share) | British Columbia
WHY WORK WITH COOVA HEALTH?
What if communication intervention wasn't delivered in isolation, but integrated with behavior support, OT, psychology, and case management? What if your recommendations were implemented consistently?
That's the job. Interdisciplinary collaboration. Coordinated implementation. Communication-centered care. You finally get to practice speech-language pathology the way you always believed it should be done.
WHO WE ARE
Coova Health provides private case management for individuals, families, and community organizations navigating challenging situations. We are who you call when someone is consulting with multiple specialists, all speaking different terminology. We step in to act as a single point of continuity. We bring structure, support, accountability, and clarity to layered cases. We walk alongside healthcare providers, schools, caregivers, families, and all who are part of someone's circle of care.
YOUR ROLE
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for children, youth, and adults across a range of communication needs
- Provide assessment and intervention for articulation, phonology, language development, social communication, and pragmatic language
- Support individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and neurodevelopmental conditions in developing functional communication
- Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessment, device selection, training, and implementation support
- Conduct swallowing assessments and provide dysphagia intervention for adults with medical complexity or neurological conditions
- Support acquired communication disorders including aphasia, dysarthria, and cognitive-communication challenges following stroke or brain injury
- Collaborate closely with BCBAs on functional communication training and behavior support for individuals with communication-based challenging behaviors
- Work with OTs, psychologists, and case managers to integrate communication goals with broader therapeutic and functional objectives
- Provide family and caregiver training to support communication development and AAC use across environments
- Support school-based communication planning and collaborate with educators on IEP goals and classroom strategies
WHAT YOU BRING
Must-haves:

- Comprehensive understanding of CHCPBC/SAC standards and relevant British Columbia legislation
- Demonstrated ability to conduct speech and language assessments and develop evidence-based intervention plans
- Experience with a range of communication disorders across the lifespan
- Strong knowledge of AAC systems, implementation strategies, and funding pathways in BC
- Comfortable working independently in homes, schools, and community settings
- Clear, concise documentation and report writing skills that would hold up to regulatory scrutiny
- Ability to identify communication barriers and design interventions that address functional participation, not just speech production
- Give and receive constructive feedback with professionalism and genuine openness: thought partnership is central to how we build excellent care plans
- Adapt when plans shift or family capacity changes. You stay steady and solutions-oriented even when families are navigating difficult decisions
- Professional liability insurance (minimum $2 million coverage)

Bonus skills:
- Experience with autism and neurodevelopmental populations
- Advanced AAC training (LAMP, PODD, robust AAC systems)

- Experience with acquired communication disorders (aphasia, dysarthria, TBI)
- Training in social communication intervention or pragmatic language therapy
- Collaboration experience with BCBAs on functional communication training
- Familiarity with BC autism funding, AAC funding programs, and assistive technology resources
- Bilingual or multilingual capacity
WHAT WE OFFER
- Revenue-share model: your compensation increases with your experience and tenure at Coova
- Flexible scheduling that accommodates your other commitments
- Autonomy backed by clinical supervision as you will always work as part of a team
- Interdisciplinary collaboration where you work alongside BCBAs, OTs, psychologists, case managers, and other clinicians

- Stay calm and constructive when working with individuals whose communication needs are layered or evolving: you lead with patience and problem solving
- Hold clinical precision and deep humanity in equal measure
