D.R. Scrap Metals Ltd. is looking for a full-time Scrap Metal Buyer to join our team.
This is not a desk job. This position works directly in the receiving area of our active scrap metal facility where customers bring materials in for sale. The successful candidate will be hands-on assessing, grading, pricing, and purchasing various types of scrap metals while delivering strong customer service.
This role takes place in a busy industrial environment and involves being on your feet throughout the day, interacting directly with customers, operating around equipment and machinery, and assisting with processing duties as required.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and willing to learn the industry.
Responsibilities
- Assessing and grading incoming scrap metals
- Pricing and purchasing materials from customers
- Providing professional and respectful customer service
- Assisting with sorting and processing materials
- Operating forklifts and equipment when required
- Maintaining safe and organized work areas
- Using basic computer systems for customer transactions and ticketing
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working in an industrial and physically active environment
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Forklift experience is considered an asset
- Previous scrap metal, warehouse, industrial, or equipment experience is considered an asset
