Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for establishing the organization’s Human Resources function while leading talent acquisition efforts across multiple restaurant locations. This role will partner closely with the CEO and restaurant leadership team to attract, retain, and develop employees while ensuring HR practices support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for restaurant management, corporate, and hourly restaurant positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, coordinating hiring events and supporting restaurant managers throughout the hiring process across multiple locations.
- Develop innovative recruitment strategies to attract high-quality candidates in a competitive labour market.
- Attend job fairs, networking events and community recruitment initiatives to build a strong pool of candidates.
- Build relationships with franchisees to understand workforce needs and create proactive recruitment plans.
- Establish onboarding programs that create a positive employee experience and support retention.
- Design and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with employment legislation and organizational goals.
- · Develop employee handbooks, forms, and other related HR documentation.
- · Provide guidance to the leadership team, managers and franchisees on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and workplace concerns.
- · Support investigations, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
- · Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, and other applicable legislation.
- Maintain HR records and reporting while identifying key workforce trends and metrics.
- Recommend HR systems and technology to improve efficiency as the HR function grows.
- Partner with the operations team to support employee lifecycle activities.
- Travel regularly to restaurant locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area to support managers and employees.
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Demonstrated success in full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition, including high-volume recruitment.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations; restaurant, hospitality, retail, or franchise experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience building or significantly enhancing HR programs, policies, or departments is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Excellent interviewing, relationship building, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized with strong project management, time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and building processes from the ground up.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems and software.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing and access to reliable transportation for travel throughout the GTA.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours as required.
- CHRP or CHRL designation (or currently working toward completion) is considered an asset
