Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Companion professionals to provide exceptional support and assistance to individuals in various care settings. The successful candidate will be hired on a sub-contractor basis, and carry their own Commercial General Insurance. This role involves delivering personalized care to seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those in hospice or home care environments. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for clients through attentive and respectful caregiving, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily activities which may consist of but is not limited to, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide companionship to reduce feelings of loneliness and promote mental well-being
- Medication reminders but no administration
- Prepare light meals
- Assist with mobility and transfer techniques in client's homes, but not in facilities where caregivers are present to do the transferring.
- Provide a progress report for each client after a visit, stating the activities performed, changes in mental and physical health that you may notice.
- Engage clients in recreational activities or exercises suitable for their condition
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures, especially in assisted living or nursing home settings
- You will not be required to use your vehicle to transport clients to any outings, or for medical appointments. This must be arranged by the client's family with a public transportation company and you will from time to time be required to ride to the outing with the client. All costs to be paid for by the client or their family.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of patient care, dementia care, hospice care, and working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility needs safely
- Strong communication skills and compassionate demeanor
- Certification in caregiving, CPR, or first aid is a plus but not mandatory
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license preferred for certain roles
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends if required
- Must carry Commercial General Liability for $2,000,000.00 limit
