About The Role:
Reporting to the Manager of Municipal Projects, the Engineering Technologist is partof a flexible team responsible for supporting engineering construction, public works maintenance, and municipal infrastructure planning and development.
The position performs a combination of technical fieldwork and office duties related to infrastructure maintenance, capital projects, land development, and utility coordination.The role requires sound knowledge of civil engineering principles as applied tomunicipal construction and operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collects field data, prepares as-built records and service cards, and assists with engineering drawings and surveys.
- Conducts field inspections to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws, standards, and specifications.
- Reviews subdivision and development applications and provides technicalcomments and recommendations.
- Reviews engineering designs and construction drawings related to land development and infrastructure projects.
- Processes permits related to streets and utilities in accordance withmunicipal bylaws.
- Performs inspections throughout construction phases and warranty periods for development and capital projects.
- Coordinates with government agencies, developers, consultants, andcontractors regarding infrastructure works.
- Liaises with internal departments and external stakeholders, attending meetingsand maintaining records.
- Prepares cost estimates and assists with capital planning and maintenance budgeting.
- Assists with the preparation of tender documents and requests for proposals.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institute
- Eligibility for membership with ASTTBC as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT)
- A valid BC Driver's License
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience incivil engineering, preferably in a municipal environment
