ROHI Engineering Ltd. is seeking a motivated Civil CAD Technician to join our growing team in Ponoka, Alberta.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys producing accurate, high-quality engineering drawings and working as part of a collaborative engineering team. The successful candidate will have experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD, along with a strong understanding of civil engineering drafting practices.
Initially, you’ll work from our Ponoka office to become familiar with our team, projects, and drafting standards. Once established, we’re happy to discuss a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
What You’ll Do
Working closely with our Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers, you will:
· Prepare detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
· Develop plans, profiles, cross-sections, grading plans, and construction details.
· Assist with drafting for:
o Municipal infrastructure
o Roads and highways
o Land development
o Stormwater management systems
o Water and wastewater infrastructure
· Prepare quantity calculations and assist with cost estimating.
· Support preliminary and detailed design development.
· Prepare tender and construction drawing packages.
· Revise drawings based on internal reviews and client comments.
· Maintain project files and ensure compliance with company CAD standards.
· Assist with processing survey data and preparing base plans.
· Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, municipalities, developers, contractors, and clients.
What We’re Looking For
· Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or a related program.
· 2–10 years of experience preparing civil engineering drawings.
· Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
· Experience preparing municipal, transportation, or land development drawings.
· Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and construction plans.
· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
· Effective communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
· CET designation with ASET, or eligibility to obtain one, is considered an asset.
