Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Longhaul Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight across long distances, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest safety standards. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate various heavy equipment. The Longhaul Truck Driver will play a vital role in our logistics operations, supporting the efficient movement of goods across regions.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination while maintaining delivery schedules
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Secure freight properly using appropriate equipment and techniques to prevent damage during transit
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times and any issues encountered during transit
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading freight
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability
- Assist with loading and unloading freight, ensuring proper handling of goods including freight that requires special care or handling procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in commercial driving, especially long-haul routes preferred
- Knowledge of freight handling and securement techniques
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other industrial tools safely
- Basic automotive repair skills are a plus for maintaining vehicle performance during trips
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and freight transportation
- Ability to work independently for extended periods and manage time effectively during long-distance routes
- Physical ability to lift and move freight or equipment as required during loading/unloading processes
