The Banquet Captain will contribute to the overall success of the hotel by providing superior customer service to the banquet and catering function within Food & Beverage operations. To oversee the work of others within the functional area during a specific shift.
Responsibilities:

Sets up rooms according to the banquet event orders

Ensures presentation of all food & beverage items meet the Coast Hotels standards for freshness, appearance and consistency

Adheres to provincial liquor control laws

Creates and maintains a cooperative and positive team-oriented environment at all times.

Effectively communicates goals to team members

Is respectful and professional

Is committed to working safely, including adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness

Acts upon food service instructions received from the Banquet Manager

Other duties as required
Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

Secondary school diploma
-
Bachelor degree or diploma in Hospitality or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum 12 months related experience

Industry-specific certifications such as FOODSAFE, Serving It Right, Food & Beverage Server (i.e. emerit) and/or Banquet Server (i.e. emerit) an asset

Ability to lead others

Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended

Advanced communication (written, verbal English and listening), interpersonal, and customer service skills

Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations

Strong problem resolution skills and conflict resolution skills to resolve issues within a functional area
