Reporting to the Administrator, the Clinical Educator will support staff development, continuing education, and the promotion of best practices across the organization. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting team members through education, orientation, ongoing learning opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives to help maintain a high standard of resident care.
Experience or interest in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices is considered an asset, and the successful candidate will provide general support in promoting safe practices and staff awareness throughout the home.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Plan, develop, deliver, and implement training programs for current and new employees in accordance with identified organizational and training needs;
· Identify educational and training needs within the organization to support quality care and service delivery;
· Coordinate orientation and ongoing education programs for staff;
· Regularly evaluate training programs to ensure organizational needs are being met;
· Support positive resident outcomes and satisfaction through effective staff education initiatives;
· Encourage employee participation and engagement in education and training programs;
· Gather feedback and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of education programs;
· Maintain education records and support compliance with mandatory training requirements;
· Collaborate with leadership and departments to identify opportunities for continuous learning and professional development;
· Assist with staff education related to hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), and general infection prevention practices;
· Support and promote infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices within the home;
· Perform daily infection surveillance and develop the monthly surveillance report;
· Educate staff on the principles and practices of infection prevention and act as a resource regarding infection prevention and control;
· Participate in quality improvement and resident safety initiatives as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current Registered Nurse License with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL);
· Previous experience in long-term care and knowledge of applicable legislation is considered an asset;
· Experience delivering training and education to clinical and non-clinical staff;
· Interest or experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices is considered an asset;
· Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills;
· Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
· Self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing situations;
· Experience coordinating staff education programs or professional development initiatives is considered an asset.
