Job Description
We are seeking a full-time French Early Childhood Educator to join our bilingual school team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher to assist in delivering engaging learning activities, supporting student development, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment in French.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher in the preparation and delivery of lessons
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, including those with diverse learning needs (e.g., language acquisition, developmental delays, or learning disabilities).
Reinforce instructional material, helping students understand and apply classroom concepts.
Support the development of literacy and numeracy skills in a bilingual context.
Help students with personal care needs when required (e.g., dressing, hygiene, mobility).
Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and field trips.
Use assistive technologies and differentiated instruction as needed.
Monitor and record student progress and communicate observations to the teacher.
Support classroom organization, materials management, and behavior guidance strategies.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education, or related field required
Proficiency in both English and French (oral and written).
Experience working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
Knowledge of strategies to support students with special needs or learning differences.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred
Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (police check).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a bilingual or French Immersion educational setting.
Familiarity with Ontario curriculum and learning strategies for early primary grades
Training in behavior management techniques (e.g., CPI, BMS) is an asset.
Working Conditions:
School-based role following the academic calendar (September–June).
35–40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Interaction with young children, requiring energy, empathy, and adaptability.
