Job Description
Are you an empathetic animal lover with a soft spot for our purr-fect feline friends? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you! Merivale Cat Hospital is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a privately owned, established, and growing feline-only veterinary practice committed to providing compassionate care and the overuse of cat-puns (we’re not ‘kitten’). If you’re a motivated, detail oriented, and upbeat Veterinary Assistant, or an individual with experience in customer service and/or reception, we know you have value to add to our dynamic and fun-loving team.
What does a typical workday look like?
You will communicate with our wonderful clients in person, on the phone and by email, to ensure their cat’s get the care they need. This includes managing the appointment schedule, so the ability to multi-task is a must. Our Veterinary Assistants are a big part of what makes our cat hospital efficient. From unpacking orders, to making sure sick cats get their prescription food, to cleaning the facility to ensure it’s safe and sterile for the next patient, the importance of your role impacts everything. You will learn all about feline medicine so you can better anticipate our client’s needs and support our team of doctors.
What do we offer?
Bragging rights! We are Ottawa’s only veterinary hospitals devoted to cats! We offer a competitive compensation package that includes healthcare benefits, generous team discounts on products and services, paid vacation, and sick days. We are an equal opportunity employer, and are committed to diversity, as well as creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
I’m interested, what are the next steps?
First, let’s make sure we are the right fit for your schedule. We are open 6 days a week, so evenings and Saturdays would be part of your schedule. We have two locations, so you may be required to work at our second location if needed. To apply, email your resume to the attention of Allison MacDonald, Practice Manager. Candidates who have completed the Veterinary Assistant Program will be given preference.
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
