As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated individual to join in a dual role of Inventory Control / Shop Production Worker.
Position Overview:
The Inventory Control & Shop Production Worker is a dual-role position that plays a key part in both our warehouse operations and shop production activities. This individual is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our inventory system while supporting production goals on the shop floor. Inventory Control function, you will handle tasks such as receiving materials, picking orders, performing regular cycle counts, and ensuring that all inventory data is accurately recorded and maintained in the system. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential to prevent production delays and material discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Control
- Receive and inspect incoming materials, verify quantities, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Pick, stage, and prepare materials for production and customer orders.
- Perform routine cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies in the inventory management system.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure all transactions are properly logged.
- Organize and maintain warehouse and storage areas for efficient material flow.
- Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to identify shortages or material needs.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and safety standards during all material handling activities.
Shop Production
Assist team leads in meeting daily and weekly production targets.
- Assist/Operate woodworking and panel-processing machinery safely and efficiently (e.g., saws, edge
- banders, CNCs, sanders, drills, etc.).
- Support setup, operation, and cleanup of work areas to maintain smooth production flow.
- Perform or assist with routine equipment maintenance and cleaning schedules.
- Work independently and collaboratively to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace by following all health and safety protocols.
- Utilize the company ERP system to manage job information, track materials, and support
- documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for inventory control and production efficiency.
- Uphold company values of quality, teamwork, and safety in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in woodworking, manufacturing, or logistics is an asset.
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment preferred.
- Experience with woodworking or panel-processing machinery is an asset.
- Familiarity with inventory control systems or ERP software preferred.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment (training or certification as an asset).
- Comfortable using measuring tools, hand tools, and basic power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of production equipment and maintenance basics.
- Able to operate in the safe and accurate use of shop equipment, including jointer, planer, shaper, table
- saw, miter saw, drum sander, and membrane press.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing precise, high-quality workmanship.
- Physically capable of manual labor and operating machinery in a shop environment.
- Strong organization and documentation skills; attention to cleanliness and efficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Positive, reliable, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
