As the Promotions Specialist for the Don Wright Faculty of Music, you will be part of a dynamic, energetic communications team, supporting the Communications and Marketing Manager in promoting all public Don Wright Faculty of Music events- approximately 500 student and faculty events a year – as the Faculty navigates through its strategic priorities in Crescendo 2026, sharing the story of Western University's Faculty of Music as an educational leader within the global music community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and curate required and strategic content for the Faculty's social media accounts
- Coordinate production of visual content as needed
- Cover events and key moments with live social media, photography, and other multi-media capture
- Primarily accountable for daily public and private inquiries received via social media and other
channels, including email and phone inquires
- Measure and analyze the effectiveness of digital communications
- Provide regular reporting of social media metrics
- Assist with the preparation of communication and marketing action plans to increase internal and
external community engagement
- Monitor market dynamics and emerging opportunities
- Participate in program and event planning meetings and debriefs to analyze impact, document best
practices, and areas of improvement
- Manage special digital projects, initiatives and campaigns as assigned
- Administrative support for the annual concert brochure and monthly event emails
Qualifications:
Education:
- Undergraduate degree and/or college diploma in Media, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations
Experience:
- 3 years of experience as a multi-media producer, videographer, and photographer with a broad range and multiple examples of projects completed for a corporate communications audience
- Experience working in the music industry preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven track-record of success in managing multiple social media accounts
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms
- Advanced written skills, including copy editing and proofreading
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent planning, project management and organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple projects against strict and competing deadlines
- Familiarity with graphic design and design programs (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Enthusiastic towards music and the arts profession
- Community-oriented
- Ability to apply creativity and recommend strategies for engagement in response to EDI-D and accessibility initiatives
- Act professionally and respectfully with staff, faculty and students within the Faculty as well as within the Western community and the external, global music community
