Reporting to the Culinary Services Manager, the Cook position is a critical role that supports the production of all meals and catering services which provides our residents with nutritional care.
As part of our team, your role as a Cook contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:
- Supports all aspects of optimal food services to meet the needs of our residents in accordance with infection control, quality management, legislative requirements and Company’s policies and protocols.
- Preparation and production for all meals, snacks and catering services, inclusive of meeting therapeutic diets and menu alternatives.
- Ensures meals and snacks are presented in an appetizing and appealing way to residents, while maintaining appropriate food temperature.
- Assists in menu planning and recipe development, communicates menu changes as required.
- Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen, food storage area, equipment, counters, etc. and ensures proper maintenance and safety of all kitchen equipment.
- Prepares purchase orders and receives all food and supplies.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Need:
· Graduate of a recognized culinary management diploma program that meets Ministry requirements.
· Completion of Food Handling Certificate.
· One (1) to three (3) years experience in a volume food preparation environment, preferably in retirement or health care industry.
· Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Red Seal designation is preferred.
· All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
· All applicants must provide proof of being fully vaccinated, except due to legitimate established exceptions.
· Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
