Position Summary
The 1:1 Inclusion Support Aide will work closely with one child throughout the day while encouraging independence, participation in daily routines, and successful inclusion within the classroom environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with educators, families, and external professionals to help implement individualized strategies that support the child's development.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support throughout the child's daily routine.
- Encourage participation in classroom activities, outdoor play, transitions, and group experiences.
- Support the child's communication, emotional regulation, and social interactions.
- Implement individualized strategies as directed by the child's support plan.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Observe and document the child's progress and daily experiences.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, educators, and families while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with personal care when required.
- Promote the child's independence while providing appropriate support.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or caregiving settings is preferred
- Knowledge of special education practices and experience supporting individuals with disabilities is a plus
- Classroom experience or background in early childhood education is advantageous
- Familiarity with American Sign Language or other communication skills is beneficial
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and families
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth and development
- Prior experience in teaching or supporting students with special needs is desirable but not required
