KJ Cameron is looking for bottle depot sorters for the summer season! We are looking for positions covering our daily operations of 9am -5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9-4 on Saturdays. We offer a flexible schedule with an hour break for lunch to ensure that the busy season does not become overwhelming. We start at 15.50$ an hour for at the least the probationary period. However performance and prior experience will be considered when determining wage. Great intro to the environmental industry.
Job Summary
Bottle Depot Labourers act as quality control line personnel by hand sorting recyclable materials and trash from the recycling stream. Depot Labourers are responsible for ensuring unacceptable materials are removed from recycling so that the appropriate recyclable materials are acceptable for sale to brokers.
Responsibilities
· Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform duties in a safe manner
· Sort trash and recyclable materials into designated areas according to type, size, colour and condition
· Perform recounts of recycled beverage containers
· Lift and stack empty and full totes onto pallets and assist with loading trucks
· Calculate order total and enter total into the till to pay deposit to the customer
· Perform cleaning duties related to plant, equipment and general house keeping
Requirements
· Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertion including standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, walking and climbing. Must be able to lift 30 to 60lbs on a regular basis)
· Exhibit the ability to distinguish between various recyclable materials
· Safety conscious with the ability to work with minimal supervision
· Excellent verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, coworkers and management
· Possess the ability to perform basic math calculations
· Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s)
Minimum Qualifications
· Legally eligible to work in Canada
· Must be 16 years of age or older
· Must be able to perform basic math calculations
· Forklift and dock experience an asset
