This is an opportunity to own the accounting and finance function end-to-end across a multi-currency, multi-entity organization, lead a capable team, and build something that lasts.
The Role
Reporting to senior executive leadership, the Controller will play a central role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company, working in close collaboration with the finance leadership team across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. You will work directly with management on business decisions, implement best practices, strengthen internal controls, and develop a high-performing finance team in a fast-growing, multi-site environment.
You will be directly involved in all accounting and finance related activities of the company, including financial policies, practices and controls. The right person will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment where processes aren’t always perfect – yet. You’ll bring structure and accountability, but you’ll also understand the realities of a high-growth, technology-first business. You’ll demonstrate high leadership to steward changes with the team.
What You'll Own
- Overseas entire accounting operations function and financial controls
- Owns entire month-end and year-end process, ensuring accuracy, integrity and timely reporting
- Lead the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Accounting team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal discipline
- Manage operational controls and implement rigorous internal controls in a multi-site, multi-country environment
- Develop scalable guidelines and processes to support the company's growth
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators across the organization
- Elevate the finance function through process improvement, automation, and technology initiatives
- Serve as a key contributor in the ERP system rollout, in close partnership with IT
- Support restructuring and scaling of the finance department as transactional work moves offshore
- Support negotiation of contracts with third-party suppliers
- Foster a professional, high-performing team environment
What You Bring
- CPA designation (mandatory)
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, ideally in multi-location retail industry
- Experienced in leading people and know how to coach, delegate and develop talent
- Strong understanding of accounting operations (AR, AP, banking, reconciliations, ASPE, etc.)
- Significant experience implementing internal controls in a multi-site environment
- Experience with ERP system conversion or accounting process automation
- Comfortable with databases and able to work with IT to build reports or troubleshoot data
- Tech-savvy and interested in using automation or process tools to make your team more efficient
- Curious, ambitious, and comfortable learning new systems or diving into complex situations
- Collaborative leadership style with a strong track record of developing people
- Highly organized, results-driven, and effective under pressure
- Bilingual: French and English, written and spoken
