Position Summary
The Wellness and Holistic Health Team Lead (Mental Health Clinical Supervisor) will provide leadership, clinical supervision, and program management for the Mental Health, Wellness & Addictions Services program, and provides general oversight and guidance to the Cultural Program at the Ginew Wellness Center. Reporting to Senior Management, this role primarily ensures the delivery of high‑quality, culturally grounded, trauma‑informed, and holistic mental wellness services for Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation community members.
The Team Lead supports staff, coordinates services, and builds community capacity by integrating clinical best practices with Indigenous ways of knowing, including the respectful use of traditional healing practices. The position contributes to improved mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well‑being for individuals, families, and the community.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision & Leadership
- Act as the Clinical Supervisor for the Mental Health Team, ensuring ethical, safe, and effective clinical practice.
- Conduct case reviews, chart audits, and clinical consultations, with particular attention to complex, high‑risk, and crisis cases.
- Support staff with risk assessments, safety planning, suicide prevention, and crisis intervention.
- Monitor clinical competence and contribute to performance evaluations, professional development plans, and corrective action when required.
- Assist in training, orientation, and onboarding of new staff
- Promote staff wellness, reflective practice, and psychological safety.
- Coordinate and mobilize crisis response and bereavement support services.
- Support coverage of mental health services as operationally needed.
- Develop and update clinical and operational policies, including crisis response protocols, referral and intake processes, and suicide risk assessment guidelines.
- Support accreditation activities, quality improvement initiatives, and data‑informed decision‑making.
- Prepare operational, clinical, and financial reports, including budgets and work plans.
- Provides general oversight and guidance to the Cultural Program.
Program Management & Development
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Mental Wellness programs in alignment with contribution agreements, organizational policies, community health plans, and best practices.
- Develop, implement and monitor workshops in the subject areas of Harm Reduction, Wellness, Family Life, etc.
Cultural Safety & Traditional Healing
- Ensure mental wellness services are delivered in a culturally safe, respectful, and strengths‑based manner.
- Integrate traditional healing practices alongside clinical interventions, in collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional healers, as appropriate and guided by community protocols.
- Support access to ceremonies, land‑based healing, cultural teachings, and Indigenous approaches to wellness where appropriate.
- Practice and promote cultural humility, recognizing the impacts of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and residential school experiences.
- Advocate for client choice, self‑determination, and holistic healing that honors mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well‑being.
Clinical Services & Case Management
- Conduct intakes, screen referrals, and match clients with appropriate services or clinicians.
- Complete comprehensive assessments that consider historical, generational, and current realities, including concurrent mental health, substance use, and medical concerns.
- Develop, recommend, and oversee treatment plans using wraparound and multidisciplinary approaches.
- Provide therapeutic services for high risk and complex needs clients.
- Provide or oversee therapeutic interventions, including individual, group, and family‑based services.
- Ensure continuity of care and appropriate use of external treatment providers, including psychological assessments.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Act as a liaison with internal programs, external service providers, health authorities, and community partners.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
- Collaborate with other Ginew Wellness Center staff to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Qualifications
Required
- Psychiatric Nurse, Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Master of Social Work, or Master of Counselling from an accredited institution.
- Registered or eligible for registration with a relevant professional regulatory body in Manitoba.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision and mentorship.
- Demonstrated experience in trauma‑informed practice, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with Indigenous youth, adults, couples, and families.
- Minimum 4–5 years of clinical mental health experience.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Functional computer skills and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation. Proficient in using an EHR system.
Assets
- Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews, traditional healing practices, and community‑based wellness approaches.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems and inter‑agency collaboration.
- Experience in mental wellness program development and evaluation.
