We are currently looking for a driven, detail oriented Accounts Payable Associate to join Desco and be part of our dynamic team in the Head office (*Mississauga, ON).*
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Controller and as a member of the Finance Team, the Accounts Payables Clerk will be responsible for the following:
- Print daily invoices generated from the general accounts payable email
- Code and process all non-inventory (overhead) invoices including petty cash
- Work with Senior AP Associate to assist in processing inventory invoices. Utilize the designated software to match invoices with purchase orders and receiving forms
- Key all invoices processed in Mincron
- Verify accuracy and completeness of data
- Process cheques and ACH, match with corresponding documents, and submit for approval
- Reconcile vendor statements, review outstanding invoices, analyze and resolve discrepancies
- Meet all payment deadlines
- Back-up to the daily cash sales reconciliation when required
- Reception desk coverage as required
- Save all payable documents into the Shared folder
- Other related duties as assigned by Manager.
What should you ideally bring to this role
- Minimum 2 years of high-volume accounts payable experience, ideally in the Plumbing or HVAC industry
- GED Min, Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
- Computer literate with AS 400 experience preferred; Basic MS Outlook, Word and strong Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot, filter, etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize as well as flexible to changing priorities
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Independent and a team player
- Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high level of attention to detail
- Understanding of HST regulations
- Strong work ethic, high integrity and positive attitude.
