Position Summary:
We are looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our HR team. This role is designed for a professional who thrives on building a positive workplace culture and ensuring the smooth day-to-day administration of our department. You will be the face of our internal communications and the driving force behind our employee engagement initiatives, while also managing essential routine HR processes to ensure organizational excellence. The person requires strong teamwork, a deep understanding of HR best practices, and the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, including Senior Management, retail team members, and overseas employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute initiatives to foster a positive work environment, managing the HR internal communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged
- Lead the new joiner orientation process for Head Office and Stores, serving as the "face of the company" to ensure a successful integration for every new hire
- Oversee the HR administrative journey of employees, including profile creation, ERP/system setup, staff transfers, and the departure/handover process
- Maintain accurate data within the HRMS/tracking systems, including leaves, attendance, and organizational charts, while assisting in the update of HR SOPs and system templates
- Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll adjustments, time/leave applications, and general system issues
- Manage employee relations issues, including investigations into grievances, workplace incidents, and disputes, while ensuring compliance with Canadian labor laws
- Assist managers with performance management processes, including the tracking of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and necessary disciplinary actions
- Serve as the primary contact for routine inquiries from government bodies such as Service Ontario and Service Canada
- Partner with teams in the Philippines and China to ensure consistent and efficient HR process administration across all regions
- Contribute to departmental KPIs and handle other related HR projects, tasks, or shifting priorities as assigned by Senior Management to meet evolving business goals
- Support talent acquisition and retention efforts, including resume screening and maintaining a talent pool for future vacancies
- Oversee office-related administrative tasks that contribute to a professional and welcoming workplace atmosphere
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR Generalist or similar role.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
- A "people person" with a passion for building community and improving the employee experience.
- Extensive experience in managing the full spectrum of HR functions, preferably in the retail, fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian labor laws and regulations
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
