Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Contract 6–12 Months) Pay: CA$100.00 – CA$110.00 per hour
About BrydonGama
BrydonGama is a Toronto-based technology practice specializing in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and AI-driven solutions. We partner with high-growth companies to build and scale the systems that power their products. Our team works embedded with clients across media technology, fintech, and enterprise software — bringing senior technical talent and architectural expertise to engagements that demand both.
Role Overview
As we continue to grow our client portfolio, we are seeking an experienced and technically sharp Cloud Infrastructure Architect to join our high-performing team on a contract basis, supporting a key client engagement in the media technology space. This hands-on role requires deep cloud infrastructure expertise, a builder's instinct, and the ability to lead architectural decisions independently in a fast-moving, senior engineering environment. This is a contract role (6–12 months) with a high possibility of conversion to permanent for the right candidate.
What You'll Do
Lead cloud infrastructure architecture across GCP and AWS — design, own, and evolve the platform. Define and own IaC standards using Terraform or Pulumi across the engineering organization. Own CI/CD pipeline architecture end-to-end — not just the tools, the philosophy. Drive security-in-pipeline (SAST, DAST, supply chain security) as a first-class engineering concern, not an afterthought. Work hands-on in a small, senior team where titles matter less than contribution. Integrate AI tooling actively into your daily engineering workflow and bring that instinct to the team. Mentor engineers without ego — you make the people around you better by being in the room. Participate in architecture conversations with senior engineering leadership and hold your own.
What We're Looking For
7+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps in a production environment. Background in media, streaming, gaming, CDN, live events, or high-throughput consumer-facing platform infrastructure — you have built for real users at real volume; financial services, government, and enterprise IT backgrounds are unlikely to be competitive for this role. Multi-cloud fluency — GCP and AWS, both; GCP is primary for this engagement, AWS experience is real and valued, Azure is not relevant. IaC ownership at production scale — Terraform or Pulumi; you have defined the standards others follow, not just used the tools. CI/CD architecture with a point of view — how you promote code from dev to production is something you have thought about, built deliberately, and can defend if challenged. Builder instinct — you have made architectural decisions in environments where no one handed you the answer; you chose between options, accepted tradeoffs, and owned the result. Active AI tooling usage in your daily engineering workflow — Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or equivalent; not aspirational, actual. Awareness of video and content delivery infrastructure — you understand why moving 200GB of video to 50,000 concurrent users is architecturally different from a standard API-and-database backend. Collaborative, humble, and low-ego — this is a team-first environment; no heroes, no lone wolves.
