SUMMARY:
We are looking for experienced and passionate people to join our great team! Working alongside Executive Chef Jordan Griner and his Sous Chef to execute beautiful a la carte and banquet style services. Experience is key, but we love to teach. Apprentices/ Co-op is welcome. Red Seal Certified Chef for completing programs/ signing hours towards your seal.
The Company & Working Environment:
Sleepy Hollow Country Club is located in Stouffville, the club has been a significant part of the community of Stouffville for over 60 years. Sleepy Hollow members and guests enjoy a stunning golf course complemented by outstanding dining and social experiences, all centered in a full-service private club setting with formal banquet and casual dining facilities.
Sleepy Hollow CC event hosting spaces include:
- A 180-person capacity banquet room
- 60-80 person capacity dining room
- 80 person capacity patio dining space
- Halfway Hut to service on-course golfers
The position:
Line Cooks/ Dishwashers are responsible for assisting the Executive Chef/ Sous Chef in the success of the kitchen and culinary operations, ensuring that all food quality is prepared to the highest standard and in accordance with club standards, along with food and safety standards. These individuals are someone with a good attitude, willing to learn, takes direction, and is motivated with a drive to succeed in the culinary world, whether temporary or permanent. This person will ensure food quality, presentation and promote a collective team environment. Punctuality is a must for this role.
DUTIES:
Supervision Received:
- Reports to and receives hands-on functional direction from the Executive Chef/ Sous Chef
SKILLS / JOB KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Consistently follow task lists and quality standards
- Label, package and handle product selection
- Receive and rotate products into inventory
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and ensure that all Health and Safety standards are met
- Ensure compliance of all food handling requirements and standards
- Communicate effectively with others regarding all aspects of menu planning, food preparation and execution
- Maintains kitchen organization, cleanliness, and sanitation
- Ensure food quality and kitchen standards are met
- Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner
- Contributes to the overall success of the club by performing all other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferably a minimum of 1 - 3 years' experience as a Line Cook/ Dishwasher in a high volume culinary setting
- Experience in large quantity cooking, high volume line expediting, and buffet presentations is an asset, but not required
- Valid Food handler’s certification is an asset, but not required
- Basic knife skills/ culinary skills
- Experience in a Private Club setting is an asset but not required
- Basic organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Experience with kitchen equipment (grill, ovens, stoves, etc.)
- Familiar with sanitation expectations and health and safety food regulations including proper handling of equipment
- Work well under pressure independently and in a team setting
- Flexible schedule
REQUIREMENTS:
HEALTH & SAFETY:
- Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulation and follow in accordance to the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
HOURS OF WORK:
- Full-time/ Part-time position
- Varying work schedule to include mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates
