Academic Upgrading (formerly University Preparation) provides a full range of core high school courses that are prerequisites for college or university programs, skills-training programs, apprenticeship training or technical institutes. These courses are offered in an exciting university environment with quality instruction and individualized attention to help ensure success.
Applications are invited for sessional positions in the Department of Academic Upgrading (University Preparation) to teach science courses and/or math courses. The possible in-person (Monday to Friday) courses include: BIOL 030 (08:00-09:20 and/or 15:30-16:50), BIOL 020 (09:30-10:50), CHEM 020 (08:00-09:20), CHEM 030 (15:30-16:50), SCIE 010 (09:30-10:50), SCIE 030 (08:00-09:20 and/or 15:30-16:50), MATH 30-1 (15:30-16:50), and MATH 30-2 (15:30-16:50).
We are currently seeking candidates with recent experience and qualifications to teach high school sciences and mathematics, and who are available to teach one or more courses from September 2, 2026, until the end of term (final exams the week of December 9, 2026).
Requirements to teach in Academic Upgrading include a Bachelor of Education and/or a Master’s degree as well as experience teaching adult learners. Candidates should possess strong practical knowledge and skills; and enthusiasm for teaching adult learners who are focused on academic preparation.
