Position Summary
Bandit Energy Services is seeking experienced and motivated Field Safety Coordinator to support Health, Safety, and Environment performance on pipeline, facility, civil, and oilfield construction projects.
The Field Safety Advisor will work directly with supervision, workers, subcontractors, and management to support safe work planning, hazard identification, regulatory compliance, field-level coaching, inspections, incident reporting, and effective implementation of Bandit’s safety program.
This role requires a strong field presence, practical construction safety knowledge, and the ability to build positive working relationships with crews while maintaining clear expectations for safe work.
Key Responsibilities
Field Safety Personnel will be responsible for:
- Providing daily HSE support to field supervision, workers, and subcontractors.
- Promoting safe work planning, hazard identification, worker engagement, and the continued strengthening of Bandit’s safety culture.
- Reviewing and supporting FLHAs, hazard IDs, behavioral-based observations, inspections, permits, and safe work documentation.
- Coaching workers and supervisors on hazard recognition, controls, procedures, and client requirements.
- Participating in tailgate meetings, toolbox talks, orientations, pre-job meetings, and safety stand-downs.
- Conducting field inspections, observations, worksite reviews, and verification checks.
- Supporting incident reporting, initial response, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up.
- Monitoring high-risk work activities such as ground disturbance, lifting and rigging, hydrovac operations, confined space, traffic control, equipment operation, hot work, and energy isolation.
- Supporting compliance with company policies, client requirements, and Alberta/Saskatchewan OH&S legislation.
- Assisting with emergency response planning, drills, muster points, site access controls, and emergency documentation.
- Supporting transportation safety expectations in the field, including journey management, safe driving practices, trip inspections, load securement awareness, and commercial driver documentation where applicable.
- Maintaining accurate and timely field safety records and communicating concerns to supervision and management.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Previous field safety experience in pipeline, facility, civil, oilfield, industrial, or construction environments.
- NCSO designation is required
- Strong understanding of hazard assessments, FLHAs, inspections, incident reporting, and field-level risk controls.
- Working knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan OH&S legislation.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work in field conditions.
- Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively with crews, supervision, clients, and subcontractors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and general HSE documentation systems.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Preferred Qualifications
The following would be considered assets:
- OH&S certificate, diploma, or related safety education.
- Ground Disturbance Level II.
- Standard First Aid with CPR.
- Confined Space Entry/Monitor training.
- H2S Alive.
- WHMIS.
- TDG.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence.
- Auditor training or COR audit experience.
- Experience with pipeline construction, facility construction, hydrovac, lifting/rigging, excavation, traffic control, and energy isolation.
- Experience supporting commercial driver safety, journey management, vehicle inspections, load securement, or transportation compliance.
