Hardy Sales is a third-generation, family-owned perishable food distribution company operating since 1982. We distribute meat, deli, seafood, and bakery products to major retail grocery chains and independent markets across Western Canada — BC, Alberta, and throughout the Prairies — with global sourcing partnerships spanning Australia, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Ireland, and beyond.
We're looking for a Key Account Manager to take ownership of an established portfolio of strategic retail grocery accounts and grow it — deepening existing relationships while identifying new opportunities across independent retailers and grocery chains.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with head office and banner-level contacts across your accounts
- Drive new listings, distribution gains, and incremental opportunities within existing accounts and with new customers
- Conduct regular store checks and market visits to validate execution, identify gaps, and surface opportunities
- Manage account administration: feature notifications, ad planning, forecasting, and follow-ups
- Act as the escalation point for account issues — owning resolution and keeping communication clear
- Coordinate with operations, finance, and internal teams to ensure accounts are serviced accurately and on time
- Monitor rebates, accruals, chargebacks, and fines — partnering with finance to resolve discrepancies
- Represent Hardy Sales at customer meetings, trade shows, and occasional industry events
What we're looking for
You take ownership of your accounts and aren't satisfied just maintaining them. You're organized, you follow through, and you're just as comfortable prospecting for new business as you are managing an existing relationship. Experience in food, protein, seafood, or perishable goods distribution is a strong asset — the product mix here has real depth and rewards curiosity.
- Solid grasp of pricing, rebates, and promotional programs
- Able to build lasting customer relationships and navigate complex accounts
- Comfortable coordinating across internal teams
- Confident analyzing sales data and using it to make decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- 3+ years in key account management, sales, or business development — ideally in food, grocery, or perishable goods
- Proven experience managing and growing strategic retail grocery or foodservice accounts
- Experience negotiating contracts, pricing, and promotional programs
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle — regular travel to visit customers is part of the role
The role in practice
This is a full-time, in-office position based at our Langley, BC headquarters, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The role balances time in office managing accounts and coordinating internally with regular time in the market — store visits, customer meetings, and the occasional trade show or industry event.
Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company events
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
Work Location: In person
