Developed alongside a practicing Ontario ECE supervisor, the product leverages real classroom experience to provide tools like observation logging, child profiles, and ELECT-aligned weekly planning. Its core feature, the Quick Guide, helps educators interpret observations and communicate with families effectively. Root Skills is rooted in Ontario's ELECT framework and supports supervisors in preparing for licensing reviews, AQI assessments, and parent discussions. Role Description
This is a full-time, field-based sales role covering the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding Ontario regions. As a Sales Development Representative at Root Skills, you will spend the majority of your time visiting licensed childcare centres and nursery schools in person - building relationships, running product demonstrations, and closing new accounts. This role is commission-heavy with a monthly base, and is designed for someone who is self-motivated, comfortable working independently in the field, and energized by performance-haced earninag.
You will report directly to the founding team and play a meaningful role in shaping early growth.
Qualifications
Existing relationships within the Ontario childcare or ECE
sector are strongly preferred - a warm network in this space is a significant advantage
Prior experience as an ECE educator, childcare administrator, or in a role serving childcare centres is considered a strong
differentiator
Proven track record in field sales, outside sales, or community-based business development
Comfortable with in-person outreach and the ability to manage a territory independently
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build genuine rapport with educators and centre leadership
Proactive, organized, and comfortable with commission-driven compensation structures
Experience in SaaS, EdTech, or software sales is an asset but not required
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular in-person visits to licensed ECE centres, preschools, and childcare programs across the GTA and Ontario
- Identify, qualify, and convert leads into paying subscribers through relationship-driven outreach
- Deliver product demonstrations tailored to supervisors, directors, and ECE staff
- Maintain accurate records of outreach, visits, pipeline status, and client communications
- Collaborate with the founding team to refine sales messaging and identify new opportunities
- Represent Root Skills at ECE community events, networks, and association gatherings where relevant
Pay: $34,400.00-$122,172.27 per year
