Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Phone Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mobile devices, operating systems, and hardware components. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various smartphones and tablets, including Android and iOS devices, ensuring optimal performance for our customers. The technician will also assist with retail sales and provide technical support to clients, contributing to a seamless customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on mobile devices, including Android and iOS platforms
- Perform repairs using hand tools and specialized equipment with precision and safety
- Conduct software troubleshooting, including operating system updates and application fixes on mobile devices
- Assist customers with device setup, configuration, and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and inventory
- Support retail sales by providing technical expertise and product recommendations
- Test repaired devices thoroughly to ensure quality standards are met before return to customers
Requirements
- Proven experience working with mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets
- Strong knowledge of Android and iOS operating systems, as well as macOS and Windows environments
- Familiarity with computer hardware components and schematics for troubleshooting purposes
- Ability to use hand tools effectively for repairs and maintenance tasks
- Excellent analysis skills to identify issues quickly and accurately
- Experience with software troubleshooting, device diagnostics, and operating system updates
- Manage the daily repair queue to ensure workflow efficiency and prioritize urgent repairs to meet promised turnaround times.
- Strong communication skills for customer interaction and technical support
- Retail sales experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Process Improvement & Planning
- Manage the end-to-end parts inventory system, ensuring critical components (screens, batteries, small parts) are always in stock for high-volume models.
- Analyze repair trends and usage data to forecast demand, preventing both stockouts and the accumulation of obsolete inventory.
- Oversee vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing for parts and processing RMAs for defective/DOA components efficiently.
- Contribute ideas for workflow improvements, such as optimizing workbench layouts or updating toolsets to increase repair speed.
Education & Experience
- People Management: Demonstrated experience leading, managing, or supervising a team is required.
- Education: Graduate from a Technician or Technologist program (Diploma/Degree) or possess equivalent professional experience.
- Repair Experience: Experience in mobile device repair (minimum 1 year) is required; Laptop (MacBook) repair experience is a strong asset.
- Cosmetic Refurbishment: Experience in cosmetic refurbishment of mobile devices and tablets (housing swaps, frame alignment, cleaning) is required.
